Porcelain pavers vs natural stone
Both materials can look superb outdoors. They behave very differently once they are down.
Maintenance
Natural stone is porous. It needs sealing on installation and re-sealing periodically, and it stains from oil, wine, leaf litter and pool chemicals. Porcelain pavers need water and a broom.
Appearance
Stone varies piece to piece, which is exactly why people choose it. Porcelain is consistent and can be printed to read as stone or concrete, but it will never have the same depth on close inspection.
Cost over time
Stone often costs more up front and continues to cost in sealing and cleaning. Porcelain is usually cheaper to own over ten years, which is why it is the default on commercial outdoor areas.
Which to choose
Around pools, on balconies and anywhere maintenance has to be minimal, porcelain pavers win. For a garden terrace where the character of real stone is the whole point, and you accept the upkeep, stone is worth it.
